Groundswell NZ South Island Tour

Groundswell NZ are a new grass roots farmer organization started in Southland/Otago whom are striving for sensible, sustainable and practical solutions to the new National Policy Statement.

They will be touring the South Island over the next 3 weeks:

- today at Oamaru (Thursday 18th March)

- Ashburton April 12th,

- Omihi on April 13th and then,

- West Coast on the 14th.

Otago farmer Jane Smith is the guest speaker and Rural Advocacy Network Chairman Jamie McFadden will be speaking at the 3 Canterbury meetings.

At these meetings Jamie will be highlighting 4 documents that are

recommended reading. The first here is the Taranaki Regional Council

(TRC) submission on the Freshwater legislation.

Thumbs up to TRC for an outstanding submission from a Regional Council. At paragraph 96 TRC explains why the Governments mandatory, audited Farm Environment Plans is the wrong approach.

So come and join us at the Canterbury Groundswell meetings. Look forward to seeing you there!
